Gary Has been drawing and painting most of his adult life. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. After serving his required stint in the army, he served as an illustrator. He then finally settled into living in California to start his art career. He first worked in advertising for 23 years as a Creative Director for a large corporation. During this time he never lost his focus on pursuing a career in Fine Art. He continued painting and taking workshops to stay active in pursuing his dream.
Finally, in the 90's he became fascinated with using the medium of pastels in his work and joined a number of pastel organizations. He soon became an elected Signature Member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast. Within a minimum of three years, the PSWC honored him with the coveted, "Distinguished Pastelist Award." Only the top pastel artists in the US have that distinction. Today he is a full time painter in both oil and pastel. He enjoys painting in the studio, as well as plein-air, impressionist paintings. He attends four to five invitational plein-air festivasl a year in addition to giving demonstrations of his techniques to national painting organizations. Enjoy his vibrant and dynamic original paintings that can be viewed at the Fairmont Gallery in Sonoma.
